If your holiday home does not have a kitchen (or one that’s on the smaller side) – or if you’d simply like to learn from inside the kitchen of a restaurant – try our wonderful cookery school!
If you choose to visit our cooking school, you will have the chance to work in the kitchen of a restaurant equipped with all of the new and traditional tools.
In this setting, it’s a little easier to learn how to prepare some of the more complicated Ligurian dishes . . . and we are also sure that the chef will ask you to taste some other delicious Ligurian dishes!
The Cinque Terre cookery school is recommended for people who want to try a cooking class from the kitchen of a real restaurant, or for those who have rented a holiday home without a kitchen (or a small one) . . . with the space and equipment of a real restaurant kitchen, the class will be comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.

Tasty “sgabei”
Sgabei is a kind of fried bread to be served hot as an appetizer or as a delicious second dish, when accompanied or stuffed with local ham, lardo, salami, soft cheese, or dried tomatoes.

A first course
Fresh tagliolini with mussels or seafood - Ligurian minestrone (a traditional vegetable soup with pesto sauce) - Tortellini with broth - pasta cooked in the oven.

Stuffed mussels - ligurian rabbit - the Cima (a stuffed meat used also to make the broth) - Ligurian vegetable pies
A dessert or starter
A fresh nest of cream with strawberries - Cantucci biscuits that we have normally with a dessert wine like Sciachetrá

This nice old typical trattoria is one of the oldest of La Spezia; it is placed in Sarbia, a tiny village on the hills of La Spezia, not very far from the town centre of this lively, province town.

In this restaurant you will always find a familiar atmosphere and the kind, warm welcome of Chef Simona Ferrari and her husband Endrio Secondini.
The place offers simple traditional Ligurian dishes always prepared using fresh and local products.
Best renowned dish is freshly made ravioli, mesciua, stuffed muscles, stocafisso in umido (stockfish), anchovies, sgabei and vegetable or rice pies.
Restaurant can serve gluten-free food for its celiac guests.
Thanks to Endrio’s passion for wine, l’Antica Hostaria has a well catered canteen with a wide selection of the best wines of the area along with most important Italian wines.
The restaurant appears on major food and tourist guides: Osterie d’Italia Slow Food, Gambero Rozzo, Touring Club Guide Trattorie d’Italia, La Gola in Viaggio (Guida di Alice), Le Buone Tavole della Tradizione (Accademia Italiana della Cucina).
All you have to do is get to the train station in La Spezia.
It’s that simple! (The station is really close to all five of the Cinque Terre villages.) Simona, the chef and owner of Antica Osteria Secondini (or someone from her staff), will pick you up and take you to her restaurant by car.
Don't worry, it's just a five minutes drive there, and you’ll be driven back to the station after your unforgettable cooking – and tasting! – experience ends.
