| Ca' Nizzola
is an antique Ligurian farmhouse, immersed in a quiet, centuries
old olive grove about 1 Km from the typical village of Vezzano
Ligure. The nearby village,Vezzano is a charming village of roman
and medieval origins which, on one side is dominates by the Bay
of La Spezia (the famous Bay of the Poets, Byron and Shelley) and
the other side the valley of the river Magra with a spectacular
view of the Apuan Alps and the beaches of Versilia. This home has
been recently restored with careful respect of the local characteristics
and materials of this area.
On the ground floor there is a large living room/dining room,
a veranda, a small kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. On the
first floor there are two double bedrooms (one with a covered
panoramic terrace) and a bathroom with shower. There is a private
enclosed garden with a barbeque where there is an umbrella with
chairs for dining outdoors and enjoying the views of the surrounding
valley. The property has its own entry and ample private parking.
The owners of “Ca' Nizzola" discretely pamper their guests
and live in another restored farmhouse close to the property.
The owner offers special meals, cooking courses, etc. in her
own villa at very reasonable prices for those wishing to savor
more about the area and it’s typical dishes. She also works in
the local tourist office so she has lots of helpful information
available for guests including local festivites such as in August,
there is an antique fair "Soffitta nella Strada" ("the
attic on the Street"), which is held in the medieval fortress
and the old town centre; towards the middle of September there
is the "Festa dell’uva" (The grape festival): the old
neighbourhoods of Vezzano are decorated, there are processions
and costumes, tasting of local dishes and local crafts; during
the whole summer in Vezzano, La Spezia and all the surroundings
villages, one after another, there are wine/gastronomic festivals,
concerts, open air perfomances, and firework displays. She also
allows those in need of internet to use her private line to check
on e-mails and such.
Situated between Liguria and Tuscany, it is the ideal starting
point for wonderful trips. The sea is only 15 min. away (in Lerici)
or maximum 30 min. (Portovenere, Versilia with its white sandy
beaches). There is a daily fast boat service from la Spezia to
Portofino and to the villages of the Cinque Terre (the five lands).
The train station of Vezzano Ligure is only about a 10 minute
walk from the property and the train ride to the Cinque Terre
is only about 20 minutes, unless you have to stop in la Spezia
and change over (it then becomes a bit longer).
For walking enthusiasts, the spectacular paths of the Cinque
Terre (the villages hanging over the sea) provide memorable walks.
The Carrara marble quarries are only 15 Km away.
