For
those who are looking for total privacy and relaxation, this location,
just outside of Portovenere (about a mile and a half to the seafront),
is the perfect place.
From the very first moment you reach the property, you are welcomed by the enhancing perfume of rosemary bushes and lavender of the typical Mediterranean garden that surrounds the house. Natural beauty embraces and relaxes you all of a sudden: olive trees, grape vines, aromathic plants and the little tomatoe garden tell that YOU ARE FINALLY IN ITALY!!!
The property is made up by two houses: main house with 2 double bedrooms and dependance with one double bedroom, great outdoor kitchen and al fresco dining area
The place can be reached from the main, public road the goes
from La Spezia to Portovenere; a small car parking area, underneath
the property is reserved to customers (authorizations request
are in progress at the moment for making it wider and capable
to welcome even big cars; by the moment only small cars can
be parked there!)
From the main gate customers have to walk along the path through
the olive trees garden up the hill; the slope is not very hard,
but those who choose this property have to know they must in
good shape, since there's no lift nor any other device for
reaching the houses!
The owner offers a porterage service on the day of arrival
from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. - If customers arrive earlier, they
can still have the opportunity to leave their luggage, in a
warehouse down at gate level and having it delivered up the
house later, in the afternoon.
As soon as you arrive on top of the hill the fantastic view
of the Poet's Gulf leaves you breathless. Here you find the
main villa. Upon entering the house we find a small living
room with an old stone fireplace. This room, as the others
of the house, has been very tastefully furnished with antiques
found in different local antique markets here and there. Other
part of the main house are a small kitchen with a gas stove
top, a bathroom with shower and washing machine and two bedrooms.
The first bedroom has a double bed while the second one has
twin beds.
Out of the house a nice, covered terrace overlooking a very
nice swimming pool 8m x 3m. On the terrace wicker armchairs,
a small sofa and a tea table for spending relaxing afternoons
sipping a refreshing cup of tea or a good beer, and, if you
have kids playing in the swimming-pool in front of you, you
can still keep an eye on them without any stress!
Over the main villa, the dependance where the owner has made a real outdoor kitchen with gas stove top, sink, refridgerator, pizza oven, bbq and preparation area. There are two separate areas for dining "al fresco" and lots of space for relaxing amongst nature. Just off the main outdoor dining area the small guest house has a sofa bed turning into a queen size bed and a bathroom with a shower.
Both of the houses have air conditioning, but in our area we seldom need its usage; moreover, the owners do care of environmental protection, so they warmly ask their guests to use only when it is really, really hot and humid.
The house is perfect for small family groups with children and teenagers or for 3 couples of friends! It is also a perfect location for honeymooners couples!
Portovenere can be reached on foot following a path departing from the upper gate of the villa, on top of the hill, and then going down a staircase; this takes from ten to fifteen minute walk; you can even reach the village by bus, still using same path, but in opposite direction; the bus stop is on the main road and it takes less than five minutes reaching the main square of Portovenere. Here you have a wide choice of activities, shopping and restaurants to choose from.
