L'Aia is located in the green hills above Sarzana, between the medieval villages of Ortonovo and Nicola. It's strategical position not only makes it perfect for touring Tuscany and the Italian Riviera but it also makes for a fantastic vista of the Apuane Alps and the Ligurian coast.
This typical farmhouse that dates back to the 1500's has recently been refurbished with great love and care. The house is divided into two seperate living quarters that both facing a beautiful courtyard (L'Aia).The owners, Antonio and Fabia, reside in the main house and take great pride in discretly pampering their guests offering them good advise on local restaurants, touring ideas, and local festivities.
The guest house has it's own private garden area where there is a nice whirpool and a gazebo furnished for dining and relaxing al frescoe.
There is also a small gym and a garden where guests are welcome to use the fresh produce (real Italian tomatoes and fresh Ligurian basil). The kitchen is on the same level as the garden area and it's big windows with light pouring in make you feel as though you are still outdoors. L'Aia is truly a location that has been made for living outdoors.
The bedrooms have a seperate entrance just off the courtyard and are not internally connected to the kitchen (there are about 10 stairs to walk down int he garden). The first floor bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and a small panoramic terrace. The upstair bedroom also has a double bed and a fairly large bathroom with a sauna perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking and sipping white wine in the CinqueTerre.
Both bedrooms have satellite t.v., hi fi system, small refridgerators, air conditioning, and very tasteful furnishings.
