La Maddalena
di Monterosso is an elegant farmhouse that dominates the bay of
Monterosso, in the heart of the Cinque Terre. Perched on the hillside,
about 2 miles above the town, this secluded farmhouse dates back
as far as the year 1200 and was originally a hermitage. It was
later turned into a parsonage and upon request the small antique
chapel that is attached to the farmhouse may be visited. It may
also be rented for fantastic weddings where an elegant reception
may be set up in the garden area. The magical surroundings and
the amazing views of this unique location make it the perfect vacation
spot for a big family or a group of friends wishing to tour the
CinqueTerre and savor the peace and authenticity that La Maddalena
offers. With a good variety of both indoor and outdoor living spaces
even larger groups can congregate or enjoy privacy and relaxation.
The owner has tastefully furnished the house with the highest quality
antiques, fabrics, and collectibles.
In the price of the property there is also included a parking
space in Monterosso (something very hard to come by), which is
only a five minute drive down, two mopeds, and a small jeep.
For those who don't want to drive, the bus stop is only about
500 meters away just in front of one of the local restaurants.
La Maddalena sleeps up to 9 people and is divided into two seperate
wings that are united by internal covered courtyard . Upon entering
the main wing of the house there is a small living room with
a fireplace that leads into the large and fully equipped country
style kitchen. To the right there is a bedroom with a queen size
bed and a bathroom with a mrble sink that has a bathtub. Downstairs
there is a very large living room where all 9 people may comfortably
reunite in front of the large fireplace and a dining room that
seats up to 12 people. Passing through the covered courtyard
(only about 10 yds. away) is the entrance to the other bedroom
area. Here on the first floor there are two bedrooms, one small
single room that was originally a study and the second bedroom
with two twin beds, and bathroom that has a shower. Up the small
staircase to the left, there is a bedroom that has a queen size
bed and to the right there is a small living room area that leads
to the fifth bedroom and another bathroom that has a shower.
In this small living room area there is also a sofa that can
be turned into a bed for an extra two people in emergency situations
or for two children and a television. Just off the courtyard
there is a fourth bathroom with a shower that can be used especially
when coming home from the beach.
La Maddalena di Monterosso is surrounded by a beautiful outdoor
garden that is equipped with high quality garden furniture. The
internal courtyard is also a special place for enjoying dining
outdoors. The house has not only been carefully and tastefully
furnished with marble bathrooms, rare antique pieces , and fancy
fabrics but also the views from almost every room in the house
will take your breath away. This is definitely a high quality
location which is truly hard to come across in the CinqueTerre
area.
A two hour daily maid service is included in the price along
with a small welcoming buffet. Upon request, special dinners
may be arranged in the garden by a local chef at a reasonable
price.
