It is a charming,
lovely apartment in Manarola. The owner, an amateur photographer,
has chosen to furbish and decorate preserving the aspect of old
time village houses, the result is a simple and comfortable place,
just as a holiday house should be.
It is located in the upper part of the village, towards the
the sea, in an area called by residents “the island” because
of its quietness and privacy.
It can be reached from the train station going up towards the
Belvedere area and then, after a few steps up via Vico Chiuso
Delle Mura, there’s the house, traditionally made with large
stone walls that keep the rooms fresh in summer and warm in winter.
White and blue are prevalent colours of the place and sea theme
pervades the property with a lot of maritime items and pictures.
Upon entering the apartment we find a sitting room with 2 couches:
one of them is a sofa bed ideal for 1 or 2 children. On our left
we find the double bedroom. In the room a decorative stone fireplace
and 2 windows with partial view of the sea on the left and the
village on the right.
From sitting room we find on our right, going up a few slate
stone steps, a traditional Cinqueterre kitchen, with old time
marble sink and white wooden furniture.
After the kitchen, a small, nice bathroom with shower.
From a small corridor we have access, through a door and a few
steps, at a nice terrace with table and outdoor sink, with view
on Manarola roofs, the vineyard hills and the sea.Typical Mediterranean
plant are everywhere and make this secluded location a precious
place for sipping a delicious cup of Cinqueterre wine at sunset
or under a starry sky.
The owners have access to their property (just one flight of
stairs above) through same stairs, but they do not disturb their
guests privacy at all.
The property is ideal for couples or families with up to 2 children,
better if not too small, due to steps all around.
The apartment is voluntarily kept simple by owner who do not
want to stuff it with a lot of electric and electronic appliances
such as TV set or washing machine, since they prefer offering
the place as it used to be in the past, with no other distraction
than panorama and plants perfumes.
Since there’s no washing machine inside the property, the owner
agree, upon request, to let their guests use their own washing
maschine. |
