This cute, historical apartment in Portovenere is at the third floor of one of the exclusive and precious tower houses of famous Portovenere "palazzata" (the line of world.famous, colored house on the village promenade on the sea).
Access is from Via Capellini, the so called "carugio", the inner main street of the village, full of lively and colored shops and local restaurants.
From the street we have to go up three floors of very steep and narrow stairs, so the apartment is not ideal for people with movement or other physical problems.
From main door we have a small entrance that leads to a nice dining and sitting room; best part of this area is the window opening at the end: a beath-taking panorama opens up and gives you the sensation of being suspended between sea and sky; the owner, while furbishing the apartment wanted to raise the floor level, so that, sitting on the couch in front of the window, could let him have a complete vision of sea and sky.
Opening on the dining area, a small kitchen; the apartment has an additional kitchen, ideal for big food preparation, especially with fish or shellfish, outside main door, on the landing area; there you have a big sink and stove. Washing machine for laundry is on this area. This kitchen has a window opening on the "carugio". Due to the fact that it is placed on the stairs landing, it must allow passage to upper floor tenant, actually seldom living here.
Going back to the apartment, we have, on the right of main entrance the night area: one small single bedroom, without windows, for one child, one small bathroom with shower and master double bedroom with window opening on the "carugio".
The place is ideal for a couple (or a couple with one child)
Wide choice of stores and restaurants below the apartment; in front of the apartment, on the promenade, boat departing for the Palmaria Island, Cinqueterre, Portofino and Lerici. A lot of boat hiring booths present on the promenade, too. Bus stop 50 meters from the apartment.
For those arriving by car, private covered parking under Grand Hotel Portovenere, 50 meters away but seldom available; otherwise, public payment parking spots on the main street; daily or weekly tickets cab be bought at local office along the promenade; rates vary according to parking area chosen. The cheapest one on top of Portovenere, at Il Cavo, in summer served by shuttle bus service going back and forth from the village.
