Stairway to the Waves is a private apartment with unique breathtaking view on The Poets' Gulf, Palmaria Island and St. Peter’s Church in Portovenere.
It is located in Portovenere, in the area called "Il Cavo", which is about 10 minutes walking along the panoramic street from the village centre.
There is a frequent shuttle bus service to the village centre for those who do not want to walk a lot. The apartment, built on a cliff perched on the sea, can be reached by a lot of steps, so it is an ideal choice for customers in good shape who do not mind walking up and down the hill for reaching the apartment.
There is a small, service lift that serves all the other apartments of the complex, but it is often out of service being an outdoor machinery, so do not count on it while choosing this property. Upon request, baggage service for those who have a lot of suitcases. Even though there are several apartments in this complex, the peculiar and wise construction of these buildings allows them to keep their privacy. The house is surrounded by luxuriant Mediterranean trees, so that even reaching the house can be an inebriating experience.
Once you reach the apartment, you have access to it from the balcony area. Here you meet (on your right) a small outdoor kitchen and (on your left) a dining table: the ideal place for unforgettable dinners outdoor under the stars.
The apartment is made up by a big living room area characterized
by big windows opening on the wonderful panorama of the Poets'
Gulf.
In this area, in front of the big windows, a double sofa
bed.
This is the best part of the place: imagine waking up at
dawn and having in front of you and your lover the spectacular
landscape of the sun rising from the blue sea of the Italian
Riviera.
Having breakfast on the balcony is a must, then!
From the living room you have access to a tiny, tiny kitchenette, not intended for preparing big menus; just a place for coffee and tee making and simple food preparation.
On the right of the living room a small corridor takes to a
small additional room, with no direct window (it can serve just
for a child), and to the bathroom.
There is electric heating for the winter season.
From the apartment, just going down a few flight of stairs,
you can reach a private small pier: if you are a good swimmer
you can plunge into the water from there - the water is just
wonderful!
If you like, you can even rent a boat and depart directly
from here for your daily sea excursions to the discovery of this
enchanting coastline (the house has its own private buoy).
Upon request boat hiring rates or escorted boat tours are available.
We can also offer a vespa rental service for this apartment!
The owner has nicely furbished the property. She cares a lot
of it and she prefers not to rent it to families with children
under 10. We dare say the property is ok for a couple (the place
is so romantic) or for families with one teen-ager.
For those coming by car, the property has also a private fenced-in
parking spot (hard to find in Portovenere).
From the house you can either walk down the hill to the beaches or take shuttle buses departing a few meters from afar the parking area anyway going down the hill it is not a big deal; it is a pleasant walk along the road. You may consider to take the shuttle bus on going back home after the day at the beach. Bus tickets can be bought locally.
The first beach is about 800 mtrs, named Le Terrazze, with swimming pools and terrace, equipped with sunbeds. Close to it there's a small public beach with no services.
Then, walking along the promenade, you find 2 other beaches:
one belonging to the Royal Hotel (you can pay the access + sunbeds,
umbrellas etc) and then a public one, Arenella, that is managed
by the city hall and you can rent sun beds and umbrellas.
From Portovenere pier boats depart that can take you to the Palmaria
Island or to the Cinque Terre.

and Lovers' Nest are twin apartments on same floor and they can
be sold together to 2 couples of friends traveling together or
to a family group of up to 5 people.
Please note that here's a bathroom in the apartment, of course, with sink and wc (as you can see in picture 12), but the shower is only outdoor, in a garden area protected from the sight of other people, where shampoo can be used and there's cold and hot water.
The owner used to have it there, since bathroom is quite small and since this is a holiday house they preferred having it outdoor.
